1. What is the 1v1 Chamber?
The 1v1 Chamber is a place within the Discord in which players of similar rank can enjoy 1v1 practice sessions with each other, while getting feedback directly from a WTL coach. These Chamber sessions are a 2 hour time frame around once a week, directed by a WTL coach.
2. Why participate in the 1v1 Chamber?
It can be tricky to get targeted and specific 1v1 lane practice in solo queue. The 1v1 Chamber is designed so members can get very specific practice on certain matchups, while making sure they are on the right track, as feedback can be received from a coach or other peers. This allows a stress-free environment to practice and target specific skills, such as: ward/ leaning, punishing cooldowns, matchup understanding, base timings, last hitting, etc.
3. How can I make sure I am notified of a Chamber Session? How do I join week to week?
Make sure you have the “1v1 Chamber” Role, in the Discord (check the ☝︱role-assignment channel), then, check the calendar for the timing on a particular 1v1 session. You will be pinged when the session begins once you have the role. Afterwards, in the 1v1 chamber text channel, you will write your “rank, server, champions, what skills you want to practice”, in the text box. Afterwards, a WTL coach will direct you to the channel to join, where you will practice with other players of similar skill level. If you have multiple people in your channel group, rotate between each player, while the other watches. Review together and give feedback!
4. How does the 1v1 work? What is the process?
Once paired, you both will decide on: Matchup, and How long you will play until (first blood, first 5 minutes, level 6, first base timing, first time one person has a much bigger lead, etc). Since it is a peer to peer with a partner, it is up to both of the participants to decide on the specific ruleset.
Here are some general “rule of thumbs” we recommend to follow:
- Treat it as a “solo queue 1v1”, don’t take cheese runes, or play differently to as you would in a solo q game
- Track your early warding, lean on the correct sides, emulate as closely as possible the threat a jungler would pose in a real game.
- If, after the first base, there is a big discrepancy between how the matchup looks, and what the expected hypothesis predicted, then that is usually a good signal to end the 1v1.
- Avoid playing past 8 minutes, as lane phases become more volatile in a real game, with grubs, junglers, and other lanes influence.
If either person needs more clarification, @ the WTL Coach that is running the session, and signal to them that you want assistance towards how the matchup should look.
Remember, the Chamber is a community driven, learning environment where there is no stress to try out / improve new things with your lane! Its a great chance to hone in on specific skills. We look forward to seeing you during these sessions!
